Bergen County, New Jersey has been my home for many years, having moved from New York City to Westwood, New Jersey at an early age. I grew up in Westwood, married and raised six sons and one daughter; however, until the children were in school I had to postpone the pursuit of a life long dream-wanting to paint.
At age forty, I went to college graduating five years later from St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, New York, with a B.A. Degree in Fine Arts followed by the Art League in New York for portraiture with William Draper and Everett Raymond Kinstler. I have also studied with Paul C. Burns and Daniel Green as well as watercolor studies with Edgar Whitney, Tom Lynch and Mel Sabin. Following this I did graduate studies at S.U.N.Y. College in New Paltz, New York and Skidmore College in Saratoga, New York.
Private children’s art classes, numerous portrait commissions in oil plus portraits of children in pastel are part of my background..
The North East Watercolor Society, Pastel Society of America, American Artist Professional League (AAPL), Artist Fellowship of New York, Community Arts of Allendale, New Jersey, The Art Council of Sarasota, Florida, Art Center of Sarasota, Florida and the Art Center of Venice, Florida. I have received awards from Catherine Lorillard Wolfe, NY, Salamundi Club, NY, Hudson Valley Art Association, NY, AAPL, NJ, Miniature Society of J.J., Ridgewood Art Association, NJ, and a Purchase Award from Urban Farms, NJ. Several of my drawings and watercolors were included in an article in “Watercolor Magazine” (1995 Summer Issue).
My husband passed away leaving me with seven married children and 24 wonderful grandchildren.
Painting and traveling fill most of my time—with my sketch book and camera close at hand, of course.
